Robenson Therezie changes positions

Sophomore Robenson Therezie changed his position from defensive back to running back last week.

Therezie, a highly recruited safety coming out of high school, also played at running back and he said he wanted to chose to make the change.

“It was one of those positions that I wanted to do for a long time,” Therezie said. “I wanted to make that decision that made me happy.

“It was my decision. It happened on Sunday right after the (Clemson) game and I just wanted to make my mind that since we needed a little bit of depth at running back.”

The lack of running back depth was something coach Gene Chizik cited as well for the reason for Therezie’s position change. Though Chizik made it sound as if the decision was made by the coaching staff.

“We just felt like depth at tailback could become an issue down the road a little bit,” Chizik said. “He played it in high school; he was a very good tailback. We have some young corners that are coming on and we just thought that if we start doing little bit, baby steps, with him on offense that it would be a good thing for us down the road. He was excited about it. He wanted the opportunity and we’ll see how it unfolds from there.”

Whomever’s decision it was, Therezie says he’s a running back from now on.

“My decision is final for running back.”
