Wallace ready for more

Freshman quarterback Jonathan Wallace saw his first action of the season last game against LSU, carrying the ball three times for 15 yards out of the Wildcat formation. While it is still undetermined how large a role Wallace will play Saturday against Arkansas, he said he will be prepared if called upon.

“Of course I’m getting reps. It’s just a matter of what coach has in for the game plan,” Wallace said. “I’m trying to stay ready as much as I can because you never know when your number is going to be called. ”

Wallace will likely play the same role that Kiehl Frazier played last season, coming in as a change of pace to keep the defense off balance. Wallace said Frazier’s advice was simple.

“Protect the football,” Wallace said. “These guys on this level are taught to tackle the football so that’s one of the biggest things he’s told me.”

During the off week, Wallace said the quarterbacks watched film with offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler from his days back at Michigan to have a third-person view of what Loeffler is looking for out of his quarterbacks.

“We watched a number of quarterbacks,” Wallace said. “I really liked seeing Chad Henne and sometimes we may see Tom Brady do a couple of things. They all have the tools that Coach wants. We’re just working to get to that point.”
