Moseley ‘OR’ Wallace as backup QB

Though coach Gene Chizik has repeatedly stated Clint Moseley is still the backup quarterback to Kiehl Frazier, the junior is listed ‘OR’ with freshman Jonathan Wallace on this week’s depth chart.

Offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler had no explanation for the listing of Moseley “OR” Wallace as the backup to Frazier.

“No reason whatsoever,” Loeffler said.

Wallace, who had three carries for 15 yards out of the Wildcat formation in his debut against LSU, was not listed on any of Auburn’s previous depth charts this season.

Both Chizik and Loeffler have said the team has passing plays for Wallace as well and Chizik said he can used for “zero to 20” plays a game. Neither Wallace or Loeffler would not say if the freshman is taking more reps with the first team in practice since the LSU game.

The Phenix City-native said he would be comfortable running the offense and trying to be as prepared as possible if asked to do so.

“It’s just a matter of what coach has in for the game plan,” Wallace said. “I’m trying to stay ready as much as I can because you never know when your number is going to be called. I’m just trying to continue to work hard and help my team out.”

Moseley, who coaches have said is recovered from a shoulder injury, has not been available for comment.
