Plenty of Auburn first-timers

Several Auburn players appeared in the box score for the first or second time this season in yesterday’s loss.

The most noticed season debut came from quarterback Clint Moseley, who came in to replace Kiehl Frazier to start the second half. Moseley was 13-for-21 for 163 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions.

“I felt pretty good about my play before the two picks,” Moseley said. “I’d love to have those two back. It’s the same thing every week. I feel like we talk about generally as a team. We’re right there. (…) It’s disappointing, and something that we have to change.”

Wide receivers DeAngelo Benton and Jaylon Denson and Ricardo Louis all had their first catches of the season. Louis had a four-yard catch midway through the first quarter and Benton and Denson each had a reception for 14 and 12 yards respectively well after the outcome of the game was decided in the fourth quarter.

Trovon Reed also had his first punt returns of the season in place for the suspended Quan Bray. Reed, who came into the game with one reception for 17 yards, started as the slot receiver in place of Bray and had two receptions for 37 yards along with the two punt returns for 25 yards.

Fullback Jay Prosch had a three-yard carry, his first of the season. Prosch’s mother passed away last month.

After being held without a grab against LSU, Sammie Coates had a 16-yard reception. Travante Stallworth also had two receptions for 40 yards.
