Auburn’s uncertainty at quarterback and lack of consistent offensive identity has Ole Miss preparing for a variety of schemes on Saturday.

Coach Gene Chizik has said the coaches will evaluate the starting QB role after Tuesday and Wednesday’s practices and decide if Kiehl Frazier or Clint Moseley will start Saturday. Frazier has started all five games so far for Auburn (1-4, 0-3 SEC).

“You prepare for what you see on film. They’re done quite a few different things and you’re not quite sure exactly what they’re going to lean on or which quarterback they’re going with,” Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said. “We’ve prepared for a little bit of all of it.”

The Tigers rank last in the SEC in scoring and total offense and are 6-point underdogs as they head to Oxford to take on an Ole Miss squad which has lost 16 consecutive SEC games. Chizik has said he will be taking a more active role in the Auburn offense as the Tigers look to reestablish a run-first identity.

“Their program is kind of at a wall right now. They’re talking about their offensive identity. Exactly what that is, I don’t know,” Freeze said. “We’ve kind of seen the power game and we’ve seen them try to spread it out a little more. I know they are working hard this week trying to figure out what is going to give them the best chance to win, and I have no doubts that they’ll come out fighting and swinging.”
