Dismukes, Ford and Davis ‘day-by-day’

Starting center Reese Dismukes, defensive end Dee Ford and cornerback Chris Davis were all injured and did not travel to Ole Miss last week. Auburn coach Gene Chizik called the status of all three “day-by-day.”

Freshmen cornerback Jonathan Jones and Joshua Holsey both started and spent time in the place of Davis, Tunde Fariyike replaced Dismukes for the second time this season and Nosa Eguae made just one tackle starting in place of Ford.

“I did what my coaches asked me to do, but (defensive coordinator Brian) VanGorder’s just putting a lot of heart on the details of the game,” Eguae said. “That’s what I’ve really been focused on the past couple of weeks, making sure that I detail my game and detail my work to help my defense play good and get the victory.”

Fariyike had a couple of exchange problems with Moseley, including a high snap which Ole Miss recovered in the end zone, but said his performance was not as bad as he initially thought. On Sunday, Fariyike said he learned a week earlier that he would start in place of Dismukes and is preparing to do so again this week just in case.

Davis, and Ford have been available for comment so far this week and Dismukes has not been available since his arrest for public intoxication prior to the season opener.
