Chris Davis in ‘better place,’ Ford and Dismukes still on mend

Auburn coach Gene Chizik said cornerback Chris Davis is in a ‘better place’ and practiced well Wednesday. Freshmen cornerbacks Jonathan Jones and Joshua Holsey both started last week and spent time in the place of Davis, who had started the first five games.

Center Reese Dismukes and defensive end Dee Ford also did not make the trip to Oxford and Chizik said their status against Vanderbilt on Saturday will be determined later in the week.

Offensive line coach Jeff Grimes said he would “assume” the Tigers starting offensive line would be the same this week, meaning Tunde Fariyike would remain at center in place for  Dismukes.

Fariyike had a couple of bad exchanges with Moseley, but spent extra time working on snaps this week.

“He was just out there on the field for about 20 minutes after practice today continuing to work on it,” Grimes said.

Davis and Ford have been available for comment this week and Dismukes has not been available all season.
