Loeffler feels bad about losing, refuses to give up

Auburn’s first-year offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler hasn’t experienced so much losing in a season since 2008 when he was quarterbacks coach of the 0-16 Detroit Lions. Loeffler said he felt bad for the team’s losing performances.

“It hasn’t happened too often obviously to myself and also Auburn. I really feel bad for our players. I feel bad for the Auburn people,” Loeffler said. “However we’re going to fight and we’re going to continue to fight. We’re going to improve we’re a young football team.

“It’s a struggle there’s no question about it but it is what it is and you either come to work and pound the rock or you run and hide. Our players have not done that, our staff has not done that and I refuse, absolutely refuse to fall into that trap of not coming and giving 110 percent every minute that I’m at this building.”

With a still struggling rushing attack and an offense which ranks 119 out of 120 teams in total yards, Auburn has nowhere to go but up.

Loeffler said the team’s current struggles will provide players with motivation in the future and nobody is giving up on this season.

“They’re in adverse waters, it’s tough right now but as this group matures they’re not going to forget this nor are we,” Loeffler said. “They’re going to grow from this and they’re going to fight their rear end off to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“The head coach hasn’t given in and will never give in and I can promise you on the offensive side of the ball along with the defensive coordinator and the defensive staff that is not in our nature. Zero.”
