Live blog: Auburn hosts New Mexico State

We are live from Jordan-Hare Stadium for today’s Homecoming game between Auburn and New Mexico State. Kickoff is at 11:30 a.m. CT and the game can be seen on CSS with Matt Stewart, Chris Doering and Angela Mallen on the call.

7:19 left – Jonathan Wallace completes a 40-yard pass to Trovon Reed for a touchdown.

11:20 left – Onterio McCalebb scores his second TD of the game on a 7-yard run.

12:36 left – Tiger Powell runs for a 2-yard TD to put NMSU on the board. Powell’s score was setup by a 51-yard pass from Andrew Manley to Austin Franklin which brought NMSU to the Auburn 6.

End of Third quarter: Auburn 28 New Mexico State 0

2:58 left – Onterio McCalebb scores a 38-yard TD run on a burst down the right side. McCalebb and Tre Mason each have broken 100-yards, first time Auburn has had 2 100-yard rushers in a game since 2010 against LSU.

8:38 left – Daren Bates recovers a fumble and returns in 62 yards for a touchdown. It is the longest fumble return for TD in school history since 1969 records per Auburn.

11:48 left – Auburn opens the second half with a 7-play 80-yard drive capped by Jay Prosch’s 1-yard touchdown. It is Prosch’s first career TD.

4:56 left – Tre Mason scores a touchdown on a 5-yard run. Mason caps a 13-play 89-yard scoring drive for Auburn which spanned 6:50. 13 plays ties a season-long on a scoring drive for Auburn and 89 yards and 6:50 are season longs on a scoring drive for the Tigers.

11:46 left – Auburn forces another punt and starts at its own 11

3:49 left – Jonathan Wallace gets Auburn moving with passes to Sammie Coates and Emory Blake but then throws an ill-advised deep ball for Coates in double-coverage and is intercepted at the NMSU 2.

10:40 left – On Jonathan Wallace’s first play as Auburm’s starting quarterback, he has a bad exchange on a handoff to Tre Masonout of the pistol formation and Mason nearly loses the ball but recovers for a loss of 5. Mason loses another and on 3rd and 16, Wallace is stopped for loss of 1. Auburn is now 3/41 on 3rd and 9+.

12:41 left – Auburn defense forces a punt on NMSU’s opening drive. it is the first time the Tigers have forced a punt on their opponents first drive since the season opener with Clemson.

New Mexico State won the toss and will receive in the South end zone to start the game.

Pregame news:

Tight end C.J. Uzomah is out for today’s game with a hand injury. Brandon Fulse will make his first start of the season in place of Uzomah, who took over the starting tight end role from Philip Lutzenkirchen, who is out for the season with a hip injury.

Uzomah has five receptions for 113 yards and a touchdown this season, catching his first career TD from Jonathan Wallace in last week’s loss to Texas A&M.

Quarterback Clint Moseley is not on the field for warm-ups and walk-on Ryan Carter is getting in some throws. Moseley did come out as the game started and warmed up with Jonathan Wallace on the sidelines.

Nosa Eguae gets his fourth straight start at defensive end in place of Dee Ford. Ford has been limited due to an undisclosed injury.

Jake Holland will start at middle linebacker for the second straight week and eighth time this season. Cassanova McKinzy was the starter against Vanderbilt.

Jonathon Mincy will start at cornerback in place of Chris Davis (concussion).

Wide receiver Trovon Reed is wearing #37 in memory of Ladarious Phillips. Phillips was killed in shooting at an Auburn apartment complex over the summer.

Pregame notes:
Auburn has won both previous meetings between the teams, winning 55-20 in 2007.
This is the 99th Homecoming and 86th Homecoming game at AU and the Tigers are 72-8-5 in Homecoming games.
Auburn coach Gene Chizik is 36-36 as a head coach including 31-17 at Auburn.
