Middle linebacker an open race

Jake Holland made his second straight start and eighth of the season at middle linebacker on Saturday. Cassanova McKinzy started at MLB against Vanderbilt and tied for a team-high with 12 tackles but has been limited time the past two games.

“We all know that he’s very talented, we all know that he’s going to be a very good player, he’s physically gifted,” Auburn coach Gene Chizik said of McKinzy, who made just one tackle on Saturday. “He’s just got to continue to learn the game, and get aligned properly and do all those things within the defense that our defense is going to require for him to do.”

Chizik would not commit to Holland as the starter again this week against Georgia.

“We’ll see,” he said. “I’m not prepared to say exactly where we are with that”
