Slade says ‘it’s not that hard’ to stop Georgia’s Jarvis Jones

Auburn guard Chad Slade and his teammates on the Tigers offensive line will face one of their tougher challenges this week against Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones. Jones, a junior, has 52 tackles, including 8.5 sacks and 15 tackles for loss, an interception, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

“You’ve got to be able to get your hands on him, block him,” Slade said. “He’s a good player, but you can stop him. It’s not that hard. You’ve just got to go out there and make the calls, go out there and execute the calls and know that he’s probably going to be on the side where the tackle will be made. He’s the type of player who will be one of the impact players.”

Slade, who has started all nine games at right guard for Auburn, was mostly of Jones but hisĀ remark about it not being hard to stop theĀ 2011 Butkus Award finalist and consensus All-American may serve as some bulletin board material for No. 5-ranked Georgia (8-1, 6-1 SEC).

“Playing against him last year, he was a good person. Seeing him play, it’s pretty cool to just watch him play,” Slade said. “He’s just like every other person. You still go out there and still play. He’s still a human being. We just have to go out there and execute what we have to do and hopefully get this win this weekend.”
