Blake productive, fumbles, in shutout

Emory Blake had six receptions for 104 yards in Auburn’s 38-0 shutout loss to No. 5 Georgia Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium. It was the eighth career 100-yard receiving game for the senior, who also had a fumble.

Auburn drove from its own 25 to the Georgia 24 in five plays with Blake hauling in passes of 16 and 18 yards from Jonathan Wallace along the way. On first down at the Bulldogs 24, Blake caught another pass, this time for 13 yards and Georgia’s Shawn Williams forced a fumble which Bulldogs linebacker Michael Gilliard recovering.

“I don’t know who kept me up but I was just trying to drive and get extra yardage and someone went straight for the ball and as I was falling down they just ripped it out and that’s completely on me,” Blake said.

Blake said the offense has to stop making errors when it gets downfield.

“When we get in the fringe area we got to stop shooting ourselves in the foot with penalties and negative plays,” Blake said.
