Georgia’s Jones has two sacks

Georgia outside linebacker Jarvis Jones made four tackles and had two of Georgia’s four sacks in Saturday night’s 38-0 win over Auburn. Jones came in with 8.5 sacks and averaging 1.21 per game – fifth best in the nation.

Georgia also held Auburn to 238 yards of total offense. It was the first time the Tigers have been shutout since losing 36-0 to Alabama in 2008.

“Our defense went out there to give our offense a chance to get the ball, and they punched it in and got it rolling,” Jones said. “That’s the things we look for, just going out there on defense and dominating and giving our offense as many chances to put the ball in the end zone.”

Earlier in the week, Auburn right guard Chad Slade had said of Jones, a 2011 Butkus Award finalist and consensus All-American, “He’s a good player, but you can stop him. It’s not that hard.
