Chizik 8th highest paid coach, Auburn staff 3rd highest

Auburn’s Gene Chizik is the eighth highest paid head coach in the country, earning $3,577,500, according to the USA Today database of college football coaches salaries. Chizik earns $3.5 million in salary with $77,500 coming from “other pay.”

Four of the top eight paid head coaches are from the SEC with Alabama’s Nick Saban coming in at No. 1 with $5,476,738.

When assistant coaches are included, Auburn’s staff ranks as the third-highest ($7,696,450) behind only Texas and Alabama.
