Five-star linebacker recruit Reuben Foster decommitted from Auburn on Friday, according to AuburnSports.com. Foster, who attends Auburn HS, is the top-ranked recruit in the state and No. 6 nationally according to Rivals.com.

Auburn fired Gene Chizik on Nov. 25 following a 3-9 season and new coach Gus Malzahn released Chizik’s nine full-time assistants on Wednesday. Among those assistants was wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor, who was particularly instrumental in Foster’s recruitment.

Foster made headlines when he switched commitments from Alabama to Auburn over the summer and later got an Auburn tattoo on his forearm (see below.)

Foster later tweeted he was going to keep the tattoo. “Not getting rid of the tattoo supporting my big cuz Ladarius Phillip R.I.P ” he tweeted, referring to Ladarius Phillips who was killed in an off-campus shooting over the summer.
