Reports: Clint Moseley will not play his senior season

Auburn quarterback Clint Moseley will no longer play football for the Tigers, according to multiple reports. Citing a source “familiar with his decision,” AL.com reported Moseley will not play his senior season on the Plains but plans to remain in school and graduate.

An Auburn spokesman was unable to confirm Moseley, who started three games this season and six as a sophomore, was leaving the team.

Moseley had an injury plagued season as a junior, opening the year with a shoulder injury and later missed time with an ankle injury he suffered during the first drive of the Texas A&M game. He went 38-for-60 for 373 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions this season, seeing his first action in the second half against Arkansas.

Named Alabama’s Mr. Football as a senior in high school, Moseley redshirted in 2009 and appeared in one game in 2010. He made six starts and appeared in 10 games as a sophomore and went 66-for-108 for 800 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.

With Gus Malzahn returning to Auburn, Moseley’s pocket-passer skill is no longer a fit for the offense. Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace, who both started last season, will be in contention for the starting role along with commits Jeremy Johnson and Jason Smith, though Smith could end up playing at receiver.
