Three-star guard says Auburn in top two

AUBURN — Wilson Bell got what he was looking for from his official visit to Auburn to weekend. The offensive guard from Blount High School (Eight Mile, Ala.) received his offer from Auburn less than a week ago and wanted to make sure he could see himself playing for the Tigers.

“I had a real good time up here,” said Bell, a three-star recruit. “I feel like they helped reassure some things about how I felt about the school – about the offer being so late. I’m kind of glad I came.

“I came here and it was all serious, it was all business when I came because I said I really need to know should I come here after the offer being so late. I came here and they really showed me a good time. I got to meet the players, the coaches and they helped reassure the love that I did have for Auburn.”

Bell, rated the No. 23 guard in the country and No. 16 player in the state by 247Sports, is currently committed to Central Florida but said his top two schools are Florida State and Auburn.

“I should know by Monday on what I’m going to do about UCF,” he said. “I said I’m going to make my decision, I’m going to make it public, on signing day but by next week I should tell the head coach which school I’m going to.”

Bell sees Florida State as “a school that’s already there” whereas Auburn is “a school on the rise” and sees the Tigers competing for a national championship in two years.

Bell said he enjoyed speaking with offensive line coach JB Grimes about where he’ll fit on Auburn’s line.

“He kept telling me how much he really wanted and needed me here,” Bell said. “I like to feel wanted. I don’t want to come to school where they have many of me, I want to come to a school where I’m wanted. I like the way they made me feel wanted at the school.

“They told me they project me to be a guard when I come in and he said as long as you come in and work and be a real good competitor, he said you should start right away because I’m an in-state guy and they really want in-state guys on the line to help bring that name back to Auburn.”

Davis said his final decision will come down to the stability of the coaching staff, academics and whether he is going to “excel” as a player at the school of his choosing.
