Four-star athlete Jason Smith signs on

AUBURN — Consensus four-star prospect Jason Smith is going to add depth to either wide receiver or quarterback, which one remains to be seen.

Smith threw for 1,521 yards with 19 touchdowns and five interceptions and added 849 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground as he led McGill Toolen (Ala.) to second round of the Class 6A playoffs as a senior. The 6-1, 185-pound Smith was the MVP of the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game as a wide receiver, which he played as a sophomore and could do so at Auburn.

Smith passed for 1,307 yards, rushed for 740 and scored 20 total touchdowns as a junior. He committed to Auburn July 9, 2012.
