Former Auburn defensive end Corey Lemonier ran a 4.60 second 40-yard dash time, tied for third-best among defensive linemen, at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Monday. Lemonier, who worked out as both a 4-3 defensive end and 3-4 outside linebacker, came in behind UCONN’s Trevardo Williams (4.57), LSU’s Barkevious Mingo (4.58) and tied with SMU’s Margus Hunt and Oregon’s Dion Jordan.

Auburn’s lone early departure from last season, Lemonier weighed in at 255 pounds, 10 more than what he played at with the Tigers. He tied for eighth in the broad jump with 119 inches and tied for eleventh in the vertical jump with 33 inches. Lemonier also did 27 reps on the bench press.

Leading up to the Combine, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. projected Lemonier, who had 34 tackles and 5.5 sacks last season, as an end in a 4-3 scheme. NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock called Lemonier an “interesting prospect” in a conference call last week.

“I think his best football was probably his sophomore year and maybe a little bit at the beginning of this year,” Mayock said. “Everybody knows he’s talented but he hasn’t played up to what he should play at.”

Both Kiper and Mayock felt Lemonier was a second or third round selection in the NFL Draft, which is scheduled for April 25-27 in New York.
