AUBURN — Harvey Updyke pleaded guilty to poisoning the iconic Toomer’s Oaks today. Updyke was sentenced to three years and will serve six months, for which he has 76 more days to serve and will then be on probation for five years.

He is barred from attending any college sports event, has a 7 p.m. curfew, cannot talk to the media and cannot set food on any Auburn property during his probation.

The trees will be rolled for the final time following A-Day on April 20 and they are to be removed on April 23.

An Auburn athletics spokesman said the department did not and will not have a comment on Updyke. An Auburn University spokesman said the school’s statement was, “This is a legal issue in the hands of the district attorney.”
