FOOTBALL

  • Gene Chizik, head coach
    • $3.5 million per year through 2015
    • This is the second amendment to his initial contract signed prior to the 2009 season. The first amendment was signed during the summer of 2010 and included a modest salary bump — from $1.9 million to $2.1 million.
    • His revised bonus schedule (2011) is as follows:
      • 10 wins: $100,000
      • 11 wins: another $100,000
      • 12 wins: another $100,000
      • Playing in the SEC championship game: $50,000
      • Winning the SEC championship game: $100,000
      • Playing in a BCS game that isn’t for the national title: $50,000
      • Winning a BCS game that isn’t for the national title: $100,000
      • Playing in the BCS championship game: $200,000
      • Winning a BCS championship: $400,000
    • His buyout protection is $10 million for 2011, $7.5 million for 2012, $5 million for 2013 and $3.5 million for 2014.
    • His buyout fee is $3.5 million if triggered before 12/31/14.

  • Scot Loeffler, offensive coordinator

  • Brian VanGorder, defensive coordinator

  • Trooper Taylor, assistant head coach and receivers coach
    • $425,000 per year through June 30, 2014
    • His new deal (signed 4/14/11) adds a $50,000-per-year bonus if he remains employed at Auburn “the Monday after National Signing Day.”
    • He made $330,000 in 2009.
    • He made $352,000 in 2010.

  • Jeff Grimes, offensive line coach

  • Curtis Luper, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator

  • Tommy Thigpen, linebackers coach

  • Mike Pelton, defensive line coach
    • $300,000 per year through June 30, 2013
    • He was hired away from Louisiana-Lafayette on 3/2/11.
    • He worked on a pro-rated contract from 3/2/11 through 6/30/11 and was compensated at the same rate.

  • Jay Boulware, special teams coordinator and tight ends coach

  • Willie Martinez, defensive backs coach

BASKETBALL

  • Tony Barbee, head coach
    • $1.5 million per year through June 2017
    • He earns $225,000 per year base salary, $625,000 per year for media rights, $650,000 per year for personal endorsement rights.
    • He worked under a letter of agreement from 3/24/10 to 12/7/11 because of sticking points regarding penalties for NCAA investigations or sanctions — even from previous employers.
    • His bonus schedule is as follows:
      • Western Division title: $25,000
      • SEC regular-season title: $50,000
      • SEC tournament title: $50,000
      • Being named SEC Coach of the Year: $25,000
      • Being named National Coach of the Year: $50,000
      • Hitting the 20-win plateau (through the 2012-13 season): $25,000
      • Hitting the 22-win plateau (through the 2012-13 season): $25,000
      • Hitting the 25-win plateau: $25,000
      • Hitting the 30-win plateau: $50,000
      • Earning an NIT berth (through the 2012-13 season): $25,000
      • Winning the NIT (through the 2012-13 season): $50,000
      • Earning an invitation to the NCAA tournament: $50,000
      • Making the NCAA Sweet Sixteen*: $50,000
      • Making the NCAA Elite Eight: $100,000
      • Making the NCAA Final Four*: $100,000
      • Making the NCAA championship game: $100,000
      • Winning an NCAA championship: $100,000
        *These bonuses, if earned, will be added to the contract’s annual value from that point forward.
    • His buyout protection is $750,000 per season for the remaining life of the contract.
    • His buyout fluctuates through the length of the contract: $1 million (3/24/10-6/1/12); $750,000 (6/2/12-6/1/13); $500,000 (6/2/13-6/1/15); $250,000 (6/2/15-6/1/17)
